Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues, step-parent and private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to avoid litigation and court processes.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
