THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach for every client's need.
