THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal profession as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
