THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
